Saturday, April 7th marks Gannon University’s annual International Night, fashioning the theme “Under the Same Moon.”
Coming up this weekend… International Night – Under The Same Moon
— Edge (@GannonEdge) April 5, 2018
Just 238,900 miles away from Earth orbits this bright and round rocky mass. This natural satellite hovers above us, flying by until it disappears only to return the next evening. The Moon travels around the world daily, exploring new cultures and meeting new faces. In its travels, however, it sees Earth as a united front of talented individuals – all different, but living under the same moon.
This is what sparked the theme for this year’s International Night.
Each year, International Night features food and special performances from all around the world, but also available on the Gannon campus. As a celebration of diversity on both the Gannon campus and Erie community, International Night offers students the opportunity to discover different cultures.
This year’s menu features 20 countries representing their cultures including Japan, Mexico, India, Ghana, and Nepal. In addition, 10 groups will be performing songs, dances and other musical performances from Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, China, and Burundi.
Hinako Kojima, International Night publicity coordinator, expressed her favorite part of the event is the food from around the world. “You get the taste of food from all over the world, and it’s something that you don’t get many opportunities to try them,” said Kojima, “They are all dishes that are close to these students hearts, and they are very special.”
Experience cultures from around the world with International Night on Saturday, April 7th. Doors open at 6pm with performances starting at 7:15pm. Tickets will be sold online at gannontickets.com.
Tickets will not be available at the door.
