Spring Open House

High school students and their families are invited to Gannon University’s Open House, Saturday, April 21 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

When they arrive at Open House, they will see a campus in transformation. There is much that is new on the Gannon campus, including the newly renovated Nash Library, expanded Recreation and Wellness Center, the gleaming Center for Business Ingenuity, the Center for Communication and the Arts, Beyer Hall and the Forensic Investigation Center. All are among the recently opened or renovated exceptional learning environments that students and families can tour at Open House.

Open House formally kicks off inside the Hammermill Center with a welcome from Gannon University President Keith Taylor, Ph.D. Following this, prospective students and families will have an opportunity to visit a student engagement and resource fair or attend an information session, as well as explore innovative academic programs through demonstrations and presentations led by Gannon students and faculty.

Engineering and computer science students in Zurn Science Center will showcase and fly student-built drones, as well as unveil an augmented reality sandbox designed and built by Gannon students that brings topography to life in real-time through augmented elevation color-mapping topographic contour lines and simulated water using an Xbox 360. Similar robotics, innovative technology and research-focused presentations will greet visitors to Gannon’s Centers for Advanced Engineering and Business Ingenuity.

In the Morosky Academic Center, laboratories will be open for demonstrations and tours, and live scenarios replicating those found in actual healthcare facilities will take place in Gannon’s high-tech Patient Simulation Center.

At the beautiful new Recreation and Wellness Center, students can experience live testing using the cutting-edge equipment in the Human Performance Laboratory.

Learn more about the new Public Service and Global Affairs program while witnessing a mock trial with student actors as the courtroom and jury representatives. Students interested in a career in the expanding criminal justice fields can experience demonstrations using the firearms training simulator and fingerprinting lab at the Forensic Investigation Center, while the Palumbo Academic Center and Center for Communications and the Arts will host multimedia and interactive activities in both facilities.
