Greek Week 2018: Hunger Games

As the year comes to a close, Gannon University’s campus is still full of so many fun things to do! One of the big events coming up on campus is Greek Week.

Greek Week takes place from April 15th to April 22nd this year, and it includes all five sororities (Phi Sigma Sigma, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Sigma Tau and Alpha Gamma Delta) and six fraternities (Delta Kappa Epsilon, Delta Sigma Phi, Zeta Beta Tau, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Delta Chi) on campus.

This year, Greek Week’s theme is the Hunger Games, with different sororities and fraternities paired up to represent districts.

Each sorority and fraternity participate in events together [except for one lone fraternity]. Events for Greek Week will include volleyball, kickball, dodgeball, mind games, Hunger Games trivia, lip sync, bubble soccer, a new event for Greek Week: a Hunger Games-themed game called the “poisonous berry game,” and philanthropy fundraising!

When asked about Greek week, Kennedy Walters, a sophomore criminal justice and psychology major, said, “Even though it is a lot of work, I am so excited to see everyone having fun!” Kennedy is the vice president of programming of Gannon University’s Panhellenic Council, which is the governing body of sororities of college campuses. She is in charge of planning Greek week as the vice president of our Panhellenic Council. Good luck to all of the fraternities and sororities participating in Greek week!
