What is a typical day like in your work study position?
I make copies for professors, file paperwork within the department and create various documents that faculty members need. It’s relatively easy.
What is your favorite part of your work study position?
My boss is really nice to work with, which makes it easy to come to work. I’m able to schedule around classes and other commitments, like my sorority Phi Sigma Sigma. I wouldn’t be able to have another job because work study is really the only thing that works out with my schedule.
What kinds of benefits do you gain?
I enjoy getting to know the faculty and staff that work in the office. I know that when I graduate they will be able to provide professional, credible job references that will help me a lot with getting a job.
How does this job relate to skills in your major?
I’ve learned a lot of organizational skills by managing all of the tasks and paperwork within the office. I’ve also learned how to better manage my time because I only have 10 hours a week to get my job done.
What is your least favorite part about your job?
Honestly, the copy machine. I’m not a big fan of copy machines in general, and the one I use most often is especially temperamental.
